Neither Bilby or I were terribly enthusiastic about setting off this morning but as it is inevitable we did it anyway. Dad mostly did his own thing again but I think had more time to chat today to people from around the world.

Today’s walk was not particularly memorable. A lot of asphalt and a long hot hill to crest into Arzúa that seemed absolutely interminable as we both limped and used our poles to drag ourselves along.

But Arzúa itself, despite its industrial and uninspired run up is thrumming with life. So many pilgrims. We’ve been warned about Pilgrim Disneyland for these last stops as the number of pilgrims rapidly multiplies so too does the sense of community and anticipation and my only regret now is that we didn’t do the Frances in the first place.

Tonight I had a burger and salad for dinner. Sacrilegious for gastronomic Spain but it was so good and as we sat amongst so many other happy pilgrims a group started playing bagpipes. And I remembered that even if it’s a cliché I love Disneyland.
