Llegamos a Madrid

We are all very disoriented but have arrived safely. Although you can read that the sun doesn’t set at this time of year until after 9pm until you’re actually living it you don’t realise how discombobulating it can be.

I booked a food tour for our first night to make sure we all got out and did not immediately fall asleep. I did the same tour 18 months ago for my belated 40th. It was excellent as remembered.

We’ve been in Madrid for less than 10 hours and have eaten jamon iberico, gambas al ajilla and champiñons con chorizo. I’ve had vermut and tinto de verano and abariño.

But most importantly spirits were relatively high.
